Katherine was a very dark fox red “American” Pointing Labrador with an angular head and body. She was an exceptional hunter in the field, ranged well, pointed and held her points indefinitely. She retrieved beautifully out of the water. She worked well with other dogs in the field and had a nose that wouldn’t quit!

Her father was the famous Helm’s Point Doctor PT who was a deep fox red pointing Labrador. He became famous when an article with his photo was published in OUTDOOR LIFE magazine in 2004. He sired a large number of titled Labradors and Katherine carried a lot of her dad’s hunting abilities.

We wanted to continue those traits and she had several litters of pups. That sure didn’t slow her down one bit! Katherine had Fox Red litters in 2003 with Kardinal, a litter in 2005 with Gunnar, and both litters were very dark red. She had another litter in 2010 with Decoy which were red, yellow and black.

All of Katherine’s pups have served in a variety of ways for their owners. Kate is one of her pups that we kept out of Decoy. Katherine’s incredible hunting skills with Decoy’s strength, build and agility, have been passed down to their daughter Kate. It is great to see the superior Labrador genetic traits shared with the next generation in our kennel, Pheasant Ridge Ranch.

Katherine was an tremendous hunter and companion. We are very thankful that her pup, Kate followed in her mother’s footsteps and continued these skills and genetic lines in the litters she has had. Kate had several litters and we kept Kinsey, Kelsey, Chloe, Louie, and then pups from some of their breedings, Kimber and Kaelyn. You can tell we really like what this line of Labradors has in their personalities, training and hunting skills. Katherine was a very fine pointing retriever and greatly missed!
