Gunnar was a very deep Fox Red Lab stud and held himself with a regal, British attitude. He was a very strong retriever in both the field and water. His pedigree is loaded with Champions and includes Balrion Red Alert, the stud who helped re-establish Fox Red Labradors in the world. I have not seen a fox red Lab with these refined looks since he died in 2012.

Gunnar was a perfect house dog, was great with children and was a tremendous helper in training our puppies. He really wanted to be where the action was. A caring, adoring companion deep in his sole is why he is still greatly missed….never replaced.

We continue to use him as a stud dog and he has carried on his dark red coat in the Clare-Gunnar Litter and it was strong in Henry and Shirley who we kept in our kennel. Gunnar was the darkest, Fox Red we have ever seen and we are proud to have had him in our kennel and our home. We are thankful Gunnar has been used as a stud in the following litters: Katherine 2005, Clare 2007, Charlotte 2013, and Red 2013 and Int. CH. Elizabeth 2015. We see so much of his build and character in every pup he has produced. What a stud!
