Annie

In the summer of 2014, Annie and her brother, Edward, arrived in the United States from County York of England just as they reached 3 months old. For many years, I looked for field trial champion blood lines from England. The UKC pedigree of their dad, Hello Thorne, “Miller”, and his disposition caught my attention. Miller has field trial champions from England and Ireland on both his mother and father’s side.

In both water and fieldwork, Annie successfully completed her training.  She is a strong-willed retriever, diligent in her efforts to seek and find the birds and she sure has great stamina to retrieve all day! She comes from excellent British bloodlines of working fox red Labradors. Her father has a very strong 5 generation pedigree with 12 Field Trial Champions which helps broaden the Labrador genetics from what we have in the United States.

Field Trial competitions in Europe are not handled the same as in the USA.  Title points are very difficult to earn.  Hence, any British pedigree with titles means there is a lot of talent in the pedigree lines. Both Annie and her brother, Edward have shown great field & water hunting skills and are excellent hunters.

Some background information on Annie’s looks….Unfortunately, when Annie arrived in the United States and was unloaded from her crate, it was obvious she had suffered a broken tail that had been allowed to heal into an unbendable curve.  Sadly, her tail had formed into a shape that caused it to bend up over her back toward her head. It looked like an elongated umbrella handle.  We were very concerned about her doing any field work that would put the tail in jeopardy of being torn off by tall grass and branches.  After consulting with our veterinarian, we were forced to crop her tail. Hense, you will see an extremely short, otter tail in her photos.

When we purchased the two siblings, we wanted them both to have the British Royal Family names they deserve. Unfortunately, before they were shipped to us, the breeder and the British Kennel Club requirements (where they are both registered) did not complete the registration name as we wished. We were required to use that same  British registration with our AKC, instead of our own kennel name. Her registered name is pretty close to what we prefer! Regardless, she is a very fine Labrador Retriever!

We bred Annie with Simbetha’s Just A Decoy, in 2021 to broaden the strong, fox red Labrador genes in our breeding program. She had 9 puppies that were Fox Red, Yellow and Black.  They developed very nicely and their skills varied from Hunters, Companions and Handicap Assistance dogs.  We were very pleased with the litter.  We enjoy Annie, her personality and her hunting skills.  She barks with no accent….
