Gary A. Sullivan
Bellingham, Washington
He comes in chocolate, black, red or yellow.
He can turn on in the field or just be mellow.
He can break through the ice and swim with ease, and for his master he lives to please.
You can toss something away to no avail, he’ll just bring it back, waggin’ his otter tail.
When it comes to versatility no other breed can compete,
in retrieving ducks or guiding the blind across the street.
It doesn’t matter if you come home late,
he waits patiently at the kennel gate.
He longs to be with the family in the house,
or crash through the alders for his first ruffed grouse.
You can give to him compliments galore
He deserves them all, he’s a Labrador.
