Matti

We anticipated Matti’s delivery for a very long time!  With great veterinarian care, Charlotte finally held on to one pup in her womb and Matti was incredible!  She completed her training with ease.  Her trainer, Devin Greiner, owner of D. L. Walter’s Kennel, was amazed at her calm disposition and how easy she was to train.  Matti had a very strong nose that really helped her find the birds.  Water retrieving was a real passion for Matti and she truly enjoyed the seek, swim, find and retrieve.

Matti was a very dark, fox red and filled out nicely with a boxy build and that classic otter tail that all Labs should have.   Adding her father, Gunnar’s pedigree with her mother, Charlotte’s pedigree rejuvenated the genetics of those notorious, historical fox red Labs: Brickhouse, Borodor’s Moose, Cajun, Scrimshaw Placido Flamingo, Lady in Red and many more of the strong, boxy, fox red Labradors.  They are the foundation of the rebirth of the fox red color in the United States and Matti has their genes!  It was a real thrill to see the last pup from retiring Charlotte be such a living example and testament to the real, fox red, boxy-build, Labrador Retriever.

We are very thankful that Matti’s hunting skills are being refined by K & L Kennels and she will be working in the field and water to make her owner’s hunting efforts that much easier! She is a terrific dog with a fabulous temperament. We miss you Matti!
