Lucy was such a joy to own, hunt with and have in our home. She was the third Fox Red Lab we added to our kennel. She traveled all over  South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas and Missouri on many successful hunts. What an excellent retriever that hunted well with other dogs.

Sadly, she officially retired from working in the fields because she suffered with cancer for seven years. A true matriarch, Lucy helped train so many different puppies to be potty trained, water retrievers, field hunters and house dogs. No dog will ever fill her voided space!

Lucy is the Labrador to which we will compare many Labs in the future. We are very thankful for all of her hunting efforts and the love she brought to our home and kennel. Unfortunately, we never could breed Lucy. Even though Lucy came from a mother with PRA III which, according to statistics, deemed Lucy to be prone to blindness at an early age. Thankfully, sight was never a problem for her.

Horribly, she was diagnosed with Mast Cell cancer at age 7 and that is what finally conquered her at nearly 13 years of age. (Lucy is 11 years old in this photo)  Our dear Lucy….
